About Mike

Michael Patterson is a trainer, speaker, consultant, and leadership coach who has spent more than two decades helping individuals reach their fullest potential. Since beginning his career in 2000, he has become a trusted voice in employee development, credit union training, and organizational culture.

Michael’s professional journey began right out of high school when he stepped into the financial world as a bank teller. Over the next ten years, he advanced through the branch network, gaining a deep, practical understanding of banking operations and customer service. That foundation set the stage for a pivotal transition in April 2000, when he moved into training and discovered his passion for developing people.

After facilitating new‑hire training at Summit Bank, Michael became the Training Manager for Fox Chase Bank in 2001. There, he sharpened his skills in needs‑based analysis, instructional design, and human resources, creating training programs for the bank’s 200 employees and supporting a variety of HR initiatives.

In 2006, Michael joined TruMark Financial Credit Union as Vice President of Employee Engagement and Development. Leading training, recruiting, and internal communication for a 400‑employee organization, he created more than two dozen courses on leadership, sales, communication, and banking. He also played a key role in major organizational initiatives, including leadership development, career‑pathing, and performance management redesign. His commitment to financial literacy led him to local classrooms, where he delivered presentations and hosted TruMark’s annual Financial Jeopardy competition.

Today, Michael serves as Chief Branding Officer for Horizon Federal Credit Union in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He oversees Human Resources, Training, and Marketing, and leads Horizon’s annual Expand Expo—an energizing national training conference that brings together credit union professionals and vendors from across the country.

Michael is a sought‑after presenter who has spoken for organizations such as CUNA, NCUMA, numerous state leagues, and individual credit unions nationwide. His work has taken him to 22 states, Puerto Rico, and Aruba, and he has served as a certified trainer for SkillPath Seminars. In 2018, he became a certified trainer, speaker, and coach with the John Maxwell Team, a philosophy that continues to influence his leadership approach.

He is also the author of four books—Promotions Are Not Served at the Deli Counter, Sit Stay Succeed, The Sales Coach, and Fully Inflated: Regain Your Bounce in Life. His articles have appeared in AOL Jobs, Training Magazine, CU Management, and other industry publications.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael has a long history of community involvement. He served seven years as a volunteer Big Brother and spent 22 seasons as a PIAA wrestling referee, including officiating two state championship tournaments. Originally from suburban Philadelphia, he now lives in North Central Pennsylvania with his wife, Ann, and their daughter, Kyleigh.

Known for his energetic, engaging presentation style, Michael keeps audiences inspired, entertained, and ready to apply what they’ve learned the moment they leave the room.
